Congregational, choral and organ music make strong contributions to our worship. We are fortunate to have four churches with four pipe organs, two grand pianos, three electronic keyboards, two organists and a benefice choir with members drawn from all four churches. The Choir rehearses most Friday evenings and also has short practices before each sung service. The Choir Diary is published on this website. If you are interested in joining the choir, please contact the Director of Music, John Halsey. Children attending Sunday Club during Sunday 10am services are encouraged to sing as one of their regular activities - to find out more, click.
Hymns are selected from Common Praise, the New English Hymnal and other contemporary sources. Psalms are regularly sung to Anglican chant and in responsorial versions with congregational refrains. A repertoire of three different musical settings of the Communion service are used. A wide range of anthems are sung, drawing on an extensive music library. In addition to 10am Sunday services, the choir leads our singing at regular BCP Choral Evensong and 'Songs of Praise' services, at evening Eucharists marking key events in the church year and at weddings, funerals and memorial services. The monthly Music List is published on this website.
Musical highlights include an annual liturgical performance of Fauré's Requiem and a biennial devotional performance of Stainer's Crucifixion. A social highlight is our annual Christmas Choir Lunch held at a local pub.
The churches are frequently used for concerts, sometimes promoted by the Team Ministry and at other times hired by Windsor Festival, local state and independent schools, choral societies and other groups.
